5 Proper Ways to Clean Your White Trainers

Men and women today are clearly obsessed with white sneakers. However, the aspect of these trendy wardrobe staples is rarely discussed particularly when it comes to how to clean them and keep them fresh. White trainers are considered to be a summer blank canvas next to plenty of stylish looks that can be built on it. But white trainers have the biggest problem: they don’t stay white for long.

You might be curious why bloggers, fashion icons, and celebrities, always appear to show off only the whitest of white sneakers. So how do they even clean their white shoes to keep them in such spotless condition? In this article, we’re going to give you some amazing helpful tricks to keep your sneakers sparkling long after you’ve first purchased them. Get ready because how to really clean your white sneakers would no longer be a mystery.

TIP #1: Get the Three Basic Tools

Aside from the warm soapy water, you would need a soft brush, hard brush, and microfiber cloth. These are the holy grails of sneaker stain removal! You can use the hard brush if your trainers are leather, either use it all over or save it for the mid-toe (which has the solid bit at the end). Meanwhile, you may use the softer brush for suede or canvas trainers. Make sure to work the water into the fabric in circular motions, then repeat it for deeper stains, and use the microfiber cloth to wipe down.

The technique here is the sooner you clean the stain, then the better! A daily brush up is better than once-a-month deep clean.

TIP #2: Right Cleaning Tools

There are so many handy little cleaning tools out there to help you with your problem. We highly suggest using Mr. Clean wipes and Magic Erasers, but if you don’t have those, then you may simply grab a washrag and dip it in vinegar from your pantry. Rub it gentle motions to get rid of small stains.

TIPS #3: Keep Away From the Washing Machine

Enticing as it is to just throw them in the wash, putting your trainers–especially canvas pairs– in the washing machine will harm the stitching and stain the rubber. But if you have to really do it, make sure to place them on an extremely low heat and let them have the time to dry naturally rather than in an evenly harmful tumble dryer. Remember that this is just a shortcut you’re best to avoid.

TIP #4: Don’t Forget the Laces

It doesn’t matter if the body of your shoe is white as cotton because having dull and dirty laces can be the detail that will put them down. Don’t clean the laces when they’re still on, just remove them first and wash them separately in soapy water. You may attach them on a radiator or use a hairdryer to dry. Don’t forget your laces because they have the power to lift the entire shoe!

TIP #5: Always Wear Socks

Although the sockless look with sneakers looks really great, you don’t literally have to do it. The trick here is just to only appear to be sockless! Go buy several white ankle socks or some invisible pairs to avoid sweating directly into the fabric of your shoe which results in odour and discolouration.

Following these hacks will surely save you money and you may go back and forth in your white sneakers! Did we miss out on some tips? If we did, make sure to share them below!
